Usage Instructions

Searches are intuitive. For example, if you type corne, you will find anyone whose name, institution, etc. contains it (e.g., Bradford Cornell and Cornell University). Searches are not case-sensitive. Further, all strings (except http URL's) are first translated to lowercase. Anyone can add or delete themselves from the data base.
If you are already in the directory, and did not enter your name yourself, it is highly advisable to delete your old entry and add a new entry yourself. Upon adding, you can specify a part of your social security number to be a passcode. This number is required to control subsequent modification/deletion access to your directory entry.

Trouble: If you run into problems, please quit your browser and try again. If you still have trouble, please send email to ivo.welch@yale.edu, describing clearly what you did and what the result was. We will not only appreciate your help, but try to reproduce the error, and correct it.

Accuracy: Currently, there are more financial economists than other economists in this data base. Note that there is no way on the Internet to verify email addresses, so some of the returned email addresses are obsolete. Your knowing which university an individual has moved to will help you select if there are multiple choices. If you find an obsolete email address, please let the individual know.

Purpose: The purpose of this Web service is to provide a central directory of finance and economics researchers (and/or institutions) that can be easily searched. The directory information has entries for name, institution, email address, phone and fax numbers, a WWW site/address, and a message. The initial data base consisted of about 1,500 addresses, mostly but not exclusively finance researchers. The goal is to become a directory for economics and finance contacts. Note: the prime purpose of this directory is to locate individuals' contact information, knowing name or affiliation, not to provide a directory for financial expertise or financial data resources. Still, if researchers enter their specialty (although only a few have), searches for this specialty will match.
